ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਵਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਾਰ ਤੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ | ਜਿਸ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦਾਇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਬਾਗੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ | ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ | ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਮਿਕ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਮਿਕ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਵੱਲ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਖੁਜਣਾ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੈ | ਇਸ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਤਲਬ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵਹਿਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਧਰਮ , ਦਯਾ , ਸਤ , ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ | ਅੰਗ 520 ਉੱਤੇ ਦੋ ਸਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਜਿਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਤਲੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਦੀ ਸੰਖੇਪ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮਲਦੀ ਹੈ | ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਚਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਚਿਕੜ੍ਹ ਲਿੱਬੜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇੰਦਾ |
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਨਦੀ ਤਰੰਦੜੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਖੋਜੁ ਨ ਖੁੰਭੈ ਮੰਝਿ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
ਤਉ ਸਹ ਚਰਣੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਹੀਅੜਾ ਸੀਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ॥੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 520}
ਅਰਥ: (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਰਦੀ ਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁੱਭਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਿਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਰਨ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਤੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈਂ।੧।(ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ )
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਦੀ ਸਮਝੋ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਿਆਂ, ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਮੋਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਿੱਚੇਗਾ ਜੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਥਾਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋਵੇ | ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਓ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ! ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਨਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ !
ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਿਆਰ ? ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਹਨ :
ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਦਿਸੰਦੜਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਵੰਞੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਾਡੜੇ ਸੇਈ ॥
ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ॥੨॥
ਅਰਥ: ਸਾਡੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਭਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ (ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ)।੨।(ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ )
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਉਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਨਸੀਹਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਨ; ਜਿਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ! ਅਜਿਹੇ ਇਨਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਲਦਾ ਹੈ; ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਜਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਮੀਰਾਂ ਵੇਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਬਣ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰੱਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਤੁੱਛ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਾਧਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੁਰਮਟ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦੀ | ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਿਖਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ , ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁੱਠੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਸ਼ਾਨ, ਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ? ਤਦੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਏ ਹੋਣ ਘੱਟ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ !
ਉਤਲੇ ਸਲੋਕ ਦੇ ਪਰਸੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸੇ ਅੰਗ ਤੇ ਹੇਠਲਾ ਸਲੋਕ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ :
ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਸਚੀ ਬੈਸਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੨॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 520}
ਅਰਥ: ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੋੜ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ (ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ; ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।੨।
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਖੋਜ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਨੁਕਤੇ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ: 1 ਉਸ ਸ੍ਰਬਵੀਂਪਕ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਵੋ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਦਿਸੇ | 2. ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗੋ ਅਤੇ ਹਉਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰੋ ਜੋ ਖੁਦ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੋਏ ਹੋ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਖੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ !

Environments For Realizing The Universal Creator
Psychology states that environment sculptures the human beings; it breaks them and revives them; in whatever environment, they live, they mold themselves accordingly; however, sometimes, they revolt against it. In the Gurbani, the importance is given to that environment in which the seekers remain focused on the universal Creator by following the Guru to get imbied with the Him, so that they don’t slip on the path that leads to Him, because it involves detaching from the Maya influences which may make one slip down. The seekers practice the teachings of the Guru and remain enveloped in mercy, morality and contentment. On 520, SGGS, there are a couple of Slokas that support the idea I mentioned above. In the first slok it is pointed out that when one falls in love with the universal Creator, then His love helps the seekers not to get influenced with Maya.
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਨਦੀ ਤਰੰਦੜੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਖੋਜੁ ਨ ਖੁੰਭੈ ਮੰਝਿ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
ਤਉ ਸਹ ਚਰਣੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਹੀਅੜਾ ਸੀਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ॥੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 520}
Salok mėhlā 5. Naḏī ṯaranḏ-ṛī maidā kẖoj na kẖumbẖai manjẖ muhabaṯ ṯerī.
Ŧa-o sah cẖarṇī maidā hī-aṛā sīṯam har Nānak ṯulhā beṛī. ||1||
Slok of Fifth Nanak.
In essence: Oh Har! In my heart is your love; therefore, while crossing the river (of this world), my feet don’t stick in the dirt. In your refuge, I have attached my heart to you. You are Nanak’s boat and raft.
Now the importance of the environment is defined:
ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਦਿਸੰਦੜਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਵੰਞੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਾਡੜੇ ਸੇਈ ॥
ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ॥੨॥
Mėhlā 5. Jinĥā disanḏ-ṛi-ā ḏurmaṯ vañai miṯar asādṛe se-ī.
Ha-o dẖūdẖeḏī jag sabā-i-ā jan Nānak virle ke-ī. ||2||
Fifth Nanak.
In essence: Those persons seeing whom my ill intentions go away are my friends. Oh Nanak! I have been searching for such friends, but they are very rare.
The world is overwhemly controlled by the Maya influences; a few real seekers of the Creator remain indifferent to it. Drowned in Maya pursuits, people put on their morality, ethics and standard on the line. It is very hard to find the real devotees of the Creator; however, still we can find those ones who have chosen to be His devotees though they still struggle. About this point, reading the following will be helpful.:
ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਸਚੀ ਬੈਸਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੨॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 520}
Mėhlā 5. Sacẖī baisak ṯinĥā sang jin sang japī-ai nā-o.
Ŧinĥ sang sang na kīcẖ-ī Nānak jinā āpṇā su-ā-o. ||2||
Fifth Nanak.
In essence: True association should be with those persons with whom Ekankar’s name is remembered. Oh Nanak! Do not associate with those people, who are selfish.
To be His seeker is one’s personal choice; if one chooses to be with Him, the Guru says just two things in this context: 1. Fall in love with the Creator and feel Him present everywhere. 2. Remain in the company of those who are His seekers and practice the Guru’s teaching like praising Him and remaining humble.
