ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਸਾਫ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕੋ ਰਟ ਲਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਹੀ ਹਨ | ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਝੀ ਸੋਚੀ ਚਾਲ ਹੈ | ਖੁਸ਼ਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਾਸਤਕ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ , ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਆਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ | ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉਲਥਾ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ | ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਖਸ਼ਿਅਤਾਂ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ | ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਨਿਖੇੜਾ ਮੈਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ੜੇ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ | ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ 1136 ਉੱਤੇ ਹਨ | ਆਓ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰੀਏ :
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਵਰਤ ਨ ਰਹਉ ਨ ਮਹ ਰਮਦਾਨਾ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਜੋ ਰਖੈ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਏਕੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਅਲਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਹਾਂ ਨੇਬੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਜਾਉ ਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਉ ਨ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰਉ ॥ ਏਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਲੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਉ ॥੩॥ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਨ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ॥ ਅਲਹ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰਾਨ ॥੪॥ ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੫॥੩॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 1136}
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ) ਮੈਂ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂ) ਗੁਸਾਈਂ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ) ਅੱਲਾ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ) ।1। ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਹ ਮੈਂ (ਹਿੰਦੂ ਦੇ) ਵਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਮੈਂ (ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਦੇ) ਰਮਜ਼ਾਨ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ (ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੇ ਰੋਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ) । ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ (ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ (ਹਰੇਕ ਦੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।1।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਹ ਕਾਬੇ ਦਾ ਹੱਜ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) , ਨਾਹ ਮੈਂ (ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ (ਸਿਮਰਦਾ) ।2।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਹ (ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਵੇਦ-ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ (ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਵਾਂਗ) ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ) ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।3।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਾਹ ਅਸੀਂ ਹਿੰਦੂ (ਦੇ ਮੁਥਾਜ) ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ (ਦੇ ਮੁਥਾਜ) ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਡੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਾਡੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ) ਅੱਲਾ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂ) ਰਾਮ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ) ।4।
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ– (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ।5।3। (ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ )
ਫੇਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹੇਠ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਸਾਫ ਅਤੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਵਤਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰੱਬ ਜਾਣਕੇ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਨਹੀ ਹਨ:
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਸਗਲੀ ਥੀਤਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਰਾਖੀ ॥ ਅਸਟਮ ਥੀਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਨਮਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਰ ਕਰਤ ਕਚਰਾਇਣ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਪੰਜੀਰੁ ਖਵਾਇਓ ਚੋਰ ॥ ਓਹੁ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਰੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਢੋਰ ॥੨॥ ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਧ ਦੇਹਿ ਲੋਰੋਨੀ ॥ ਸੋ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਲਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਹਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜੋਨੀ ॥੩॥ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 1136}
ਅਰਥ: ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਕੱਚੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ (ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਭਾਦਰੋਂ ਵਦੀ ਅਸ਼ਟਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ-ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ) । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ।1। ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਤੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਕੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ ਲਾਂਭੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ (ਭਾਦਰੋਂ ਵਦੀ) ਅਸ਼ਟਮੀ ਥਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ।1।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੰਜੀਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਲੁਕਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ-ਮੂਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੂਰਖ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।2।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ (ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ-ਮੂਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਲੋਰੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਰੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ) ਸਾਰੇ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ (ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ) । ਸੜ ਜਾਏ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।3।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।4।1। (ਡਾਕਟਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿੰਘ )
ਉਤਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਹੋਣ ਚਾਹੇ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਜੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਜਨਮ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ |
ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਇਹ ਤੱਥ ਵੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਧਰਮ ਜਾਂ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਨਾ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ਼ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੁਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਜਾਂ ਮੱਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ਼ ਰੱਖਦੇ | ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਬਰ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਦੇਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਯਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ, ਫੇਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰਨੇ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਹਨ, ਤਦ ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੀ ਹੈ ?

The Sikhs are not Hindus
Sadly, some people call the Sikhs a part of Hinduism; Khushwant Singh, being an agnostic, wrote a History of the Sikhs and called the Sikhs a part of Hinduism. He also translated Gurbani incorrectly. Such people leave an impression on others to believe that the Sikhs may be a part of Hinduism. The Sikhs’ Guru very explicitly writes that the Sikhs are neither Hindus nor Muslims since they don’t believe what the Hindus or the Muslims believe like doing pilgrimaging to Kashi or Macca or to observe fasts. The Guru’s shabadas which explains this fact are on SGGS 1136, let us ponder over them.
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ ਵਰਤ ਨ ਰਹਉ ਨ ਮਹ ਰਮਦਾਨਾ ॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਜੋ ਰਖੈ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ॥1॥
Bẖairo mėhlā 5. Varaṯ na raha-o na mah ramḏānā.
Ŧis sevī jo rakẖai niḏānā. ||1||
Raag Bhairo, the bani of Fifth Nanak.
In essence: Neither I observe fasting, nor I believe in the month of Ramzan (Muslim fasting time). I serve only Akalpurakh, who protects in the end.
ਏਕੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਅਲਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਹਾਂ ਨੇਬੇਰਾ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ėk gusā-ī alhu merā. Hinḏū ṯurak ḏuhāʼn neberā. ||1|| Rahā-o.
I believe in one Creator, to whom the Hindus call Gosaeen and the Muslims Allah. I am done with what the Hindus and the Muslims do. Pause.
ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਜਾਉ ਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥2॥
Haj kābai jā-o na ṯirath pūjā. Ėko sevī avar na ḏūjā. ||2||
I neither go to Mecca, nor worship at holy pilgrimaging places; I serve none but only Akalpurakh.
ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਉ ਨ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰਉ ॥ ਏਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਲੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਉ ॥3॥
Pūjā kara-o na nivāj gujāra-o. Ėk nirankār le riḏai namaskāra-o. ||3||
I neither perform worship nor offer Niwaz (Muslim prayer). Only to the Formless Creator, I bow in my heart.
ਨਾ ਹਮ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਨ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ॥ ਅਲਹ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰਾਨ ॥4॥
Nā ham hinḏū na musalmān. Alah rām ke pind parān. ||4||
I am neither a Hindu, nor a Muslim; my body and life belong to the Creator who is called Ram or Allah.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥5॥3॥
Kaho Kabīr ih kī-ā vakẖānā. Gur pīr mil kẖuḏ kẖasam pacẖẖānā. ||5||3||
Oh Kabir! I have expressed this that by meeting my Guru, my Peer, I have realized the Master.
Thus, in a reference to a Bhagat Kabir’s Sharada, the Fifth Guru states that the Sikhs neither believe in Islam nor in Hinduism. What is said in the above shabda is very important because what the Muslims or the Hindus do according to their religions, the Sikhs just don’t. Obviously, why anyone should call the Sikhs a part of Hinduism?
In the next shabda, the Guru addresses an issue about the Creator. The Hindus believe that the Creator, Gobind, took birth as Krishan. The Guru clarifies that the Creator who is addressed by many names by different believers doesn’t take birth and is beyond death, then how anyone claim that on Ashtmi of the month of Bhadon, the Creator took birth? Let us ponder over this shabada as well which is also on SGGS, S1136
ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧ Bẖairo mėhlā 5 gẖar 1
Raag Bhairo, the bani of Fifth Nanak, house first.
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ Ik-oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is only one All Pervading Akalpurakh, who is known with the blessings of the Satiguru.
ਸਗਲੀ ਥੀਤਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਰਾਖੀ ॥ ਅਸਟਮ ਥੀਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਨਮਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Saglī thīṯ pās dār rākẖī. Astam thīṯ govinḏ janmā sī. ||1||
In essence: (the Guru is addressing actually to a Pundit who preaches that on the eighth of Bhadon, the Creator was born as Krishan Gobind) ignoring all other lunar days, (you say) on the eighth day of the moon, Krishan, the creator, was born!
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਰ ਕਰਤ ਕਚਰਾਇਣ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bẖaram bẖūle nar karaṯ kacẖrā-iṇ. Janam maraṇ ṯe rahaṯ nārā-iṇ. ||1|| Rahā-o.
Oh mortal! You utter false things strayed in doubt. The omnipresent Creator is beyond birth and death. Pause.
Why that person, who says on the eighth of Bhadon the Creator took birth as Krishan, is wrong? The answer is that the Creator is beyond birth and death.
ਕਰਿ ਪੰਜੀਰੁ ਖਵਾਇਓ ਚੋਰ ॥ ਓਹੁ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਰੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਢੋਰ ॥੨॥
Kar panjīr kẖavā-i-o cẖor. Oh janam na marai re sākaṯ dẖor. ||2||
After preparing sweet treat, you offer secretly to the stone idol (of Krishan). Oh, ignorant Maya-lover! Akalpurakh doesn’t die or take birth.
ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਧ ਦੇਹਿ ਲੋਰੋਨੀ ॥ ਸੋ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਲਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਹਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜੋਨੀ ॥੩॥
Sagal parāḏẖ ḏėh loronī. So mukẖ jala-o jiṯ kahėh ṯẖākur jonī. ||3||
All the sins are the cause of your lullaby given to the stone idol. Let that mouth be burned that says the Master Creator enters into existences.
ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥
Janam na marai na āvai na jā-e. Nānak kā parabẖ rahi-o samā-e. ||4||1||
Nanak’s Prabh is pervading everywhere and He neither dies nor takes birth.
We can conclude from the both shabdas quoted above that the Sikhs do not believe in the rituals or other things practiced by the Hindus or the Muslims. And it is not possible that the Universal Creator, who is beyond death (Akalmurt) ever takes birth in a form. He does exist in all lives; nonetheless, He doesn’t take birth individually. The Guru questions the worshipper-class that they simply mislead the people instead of attaching them to the real all-pervading Ekankar. It is also made clear that the Sikhs are much different from the people of any other religions.
